A Solicitor or Canvasser is any person going door-to-door (on foot or any vehicle) selling goods, services, or taking orders for future delivery, regardless of whether they carry samples or collect payments upfront.

 

Key Rules & Regulations

✅ "No Soliciting" Signs Required on Every Property

• Signs must be placed at individual homes, not just at the neighborhood entrance.

✅ Permits & Identification

• A Visible Permit/Badge from the Sheriff’s Office must be worn on the shoulder and easily visible at all times.

✅ No Entry Without Invitation

• Solicitors cannot enter a home unless expressly invited by the homeowner.

• If a "No Soliciting" sign is posted, they must leave immediately.

✅ No Unwanted Handbills or Flyers

• If a "No Soliciting" sign is posted, solicitors may NOT leave handbills, flyers, or advertisements.

• Violators are subject to citation.

❌ No one may place handbills, flyers, or other items in mailboxes.
❌ Violators face a $5,000 fine per item (individuals) and $10,000 per item (businesses).
